'Chi-Chian' to be adapted for cinema
Sirius Entertainment's cult comic series Chi-Chian is to be adapted for film courtesy of Framelight.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production company has optioned picture rights to the project, which has also spawned a role-playing game and digital episodes for the Sci Fi Channel.

The story takes place in a distant future where New York has been annexed by the Japanese and giant worms serve as underground transport. It follows a young woman named Chi-Chian who must fight to protect her family from samurais, robots and zombies in this dystopian world.

Written and illustrated by Aurelio Voltaire Hernández - who also created Oh My Goth! for Sirius - the comic book ran as a six-issue miniseries in 1997.

Jeffrey Erb and Robert Robinson Jr will produce Chi-Chian under their Framelight banner. An official release date for the film is yet to be announced.
