The Blair Witch Project co-director Eduardo Sánchez has admitted that he is jealous of Paranormal Activity's success.

Speaking to The Star, Sánchez explained that the record-breaking box office performance of Oren Peli's low-budget supernatural film is part of the reason why he and Daniel Myrick are plotting to make Blair Witch 3.

"I wouldn't be completely honest with you if I said I wasn't jealous of Paranormal Activity," he said. "I'm happy for the guy... but at the same time, there's the feeling that, man, I could have done this.

"It would have been different and might not have been as good. But I know how to make these films. To me it's like, man, maybe I should go back and kind of milk this one more time."

According to Sánchez, the third Blair Witch will ignore the events of the second movie Book Of Shadows and pick up where the first left off. Original stars Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will return in cameo roles.

"We're at the step where we're about to pitch to Lionsgate, which owns the movie rights now. It's pretty much up to them," Sánchez said of the third film. "They can completely squash it or greenlight it."
