Ed LaRoche's graphic novel Almighty is to be adapted as a feature film courtesy of Sin City producer Stephen L'Heureux's Solipsist Films.

According to Mania, Black Hawk Down scribe Ken Nolana is attached as writer, and a director is currently being sought for the project.

The book takes place in post-apocalyptic America in 2098, where the neo-tribalism has become a way of life. It follows a female mercenary named Fale, who must brave the dangerous terrain to rescue a young girl from kidnappers.

Writer and artist LaRoche said that Fale marks a departure from the traditional female action hero. "I don't see a 5ft 4in, 110-pound girl kicking everybody's ass in that role, and then she's pretty too, on top of it," he explained.

"That's not what a real action hero would be concerned with. How they look, whether their lipstick is on right and do they look good in heels."

He added: "I think that if you create a character and that men could sit there and go, 'I relate to this person. If I was in a fox hole, if I had to go through the door, through a window, through a skylight, I'd want this person behind me'."

Producer L'Heureux previously announced that Solipsist will follow Sin City 2 with an adaptation of Frank Miller's Hard Boiled. The studio also recently acquired the rights to Joe Casey's graphic novel Full Moon Fever.
