Lawrence replaces Ritchie on 'Sgt. Rock'

DC Comics
Created in 1959 by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, the character led a fictional World War II US Army infantry called Easy Company in various DC Comics publications. However, the planned movie will take the story in a new direction by bringing the character into the future.
I Am Legend director Lawrence will work on the action-adventure movie from a script by Chad St. John.
Joel Silver, who has spent 20 years trying to make a Sgt. Rock film, will produce alongside Akiva Goldsman. Arnold Schwarzenegger was allegedly attached to star in a previous incarnation of the project.
