The British actress mentioned in an Observer article that she had gone up for a part in the movie, but didn't expect the comments to create news across the internet.
"It was really bizarre because I wrote that without thinking anything of it," she told DS. "I had no idea that with Spider-Man 4 being such a big film... that people would pick up on it. I was a bit taken aback. The point I was making is, 'I'm not going to get this [role]!'"
Garai, who leads the cast of upcoming war thriller Glorious 39, added that she is a fan of the superhero franchise: "I love Spider-Man. Spider-Man's amazing, I try and embrace all forms of cinema."
