Posters for Couples Retreat have been described as racist after it emerged that two black actors had been airbrushed out.

Contactmusic reports that all eight of the film's stars appear on the US poster, but Faizon Love and Kali Hawk were airbrushed out for the UK advertisements.

A spokesperson for Mediawatch-UK said: "I think this was an ill-conceived move. We celebrate diversity in Britain and we could have coped with seeing the same poster used in America."

Meanwhile, a representative for Universal Pictures apologised for any offence and added that the airbrushed posters would not now be used in other countries.

However, the spokesperson said that the move hadn't been based on racial grounds, explaining: "[The airbrushed image was used] to simplify the poster to actors who are most recognisable in international markets."
