The Coldplay frontman, who appeared in Ash's unreleased horror movie Slashed, has been encouraged to take on more acting roles by Wheeler.
Wheeler told The Guardian: "He was the best thing in it. He's a really, really good actor. He could be really strong in comedy."
The 2001 film also starred songwriter Moby, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Cold Feet actor James Nesbitt.
Although it was not released, Wheeler said that it may be brought out in the future, adding: "We're still talking about using that footage. A lot of people will want to see Chris Martin getting axed to death."
