Iliff tapped to write 'American Gladiators'

According to Variety, Iliff's script will reinvent the TV athletes as modern-day superheroes.
Scott Mednick is producing the film alongside Gladiators creator Johnny Ferraro. The TV show debuted in 1988 and has been adapted in 14 countries.
Iliff's previous writing credits include Patriot Games and Varsity Blues. He recently penned a sequel to his 1991 action film Point Break.
The American Gladiators movie is being eyed for release in 2011.
