Clint Eastwood wins DGA award

Clint Eastwood has picked up the Directors Guild of America award for his touching boxing drama, Million Dollar Baby.
Eastwood saw off stiff competition from the likes of Martin Scorsese (The Aviator), Alexander Payne (Sideways), Marc Forster (Finding Neverland) and Taylor Hackford (Ray).
The director's success here stands him in good stead for victory at the Academy Awards. He won a DGA award for 1992's Unforgiven before going on to win an Oscar for it, and 50 out of 56 DGA winners have enjoyed a similar fate.
The Oscars will be held on February 27.
