Scott is new Bond favourite
Published Monday, Jan 31 2005, 16:10 GMT | By Daniel Saney
Dougray Scott is the new bookmakers' favourite to take on the role of James Bond.
William Hill ceased taking bets on the fight for the role as of Friday, after the company received many large wagers in his favour, which may be attributable to "insider information."
Spokesman Rupert Adams said that such bets in the past have proved to be successful and added that one woman had placed a bet of £870 on the Enigma actor at odds of 8/1. He told the BBC: "She told us she had some inside information, perhaps she knew he had been to a casting, but she wouldn't say."
The closing odds on Friday:
Dougray Scott - 6/9
Clive Owen - 5/2
Hugh Jackman - 4/1
Ewan McGregor - 4/1
