Fergie has revealed that she studied Italian cinema to perfect her role in the film Nine.

The 34-year-old Black Eyed Peas star, who plays Saraghina in Rob Marshall's movie musical, has admitted that she attended the film's London audition ready with her "tools" to convince the director she was the right choice for the part.

Speaking to Female First, the singer said: "I watched all the Fellini films and studied Italian actresses, how they walked and how they spoke with their hands.

"Whenever I would sit down, I would never cross my legs because that's not how Saraghina would sit - she wasn't a lady. I would walk in a different physicality than I use myself. I tried to become Italian, I tried to become Saraghina."

Nine, which is inspired by Federico Fellini's 8½, is to be released on December 25.
