Jeremy Piven and Private Practice star Kate Walsh have boarded independent drama Waska.

The actors join Thomas Dekker, Lynn Collins, Mira Sorvino, Elizabeth McGovern and Joseph Morgan in the Gaby Dellal-directed film, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows a young father, played by Dekker, coping with the loss of his son during the time of Waska, the first snowfall of the year. Piven portrays a prosecutor who goes after the father while the whole community is affected by the tragedy.

Waska is based on a novel by Leslie Schwartz.

Filming recently began in Calgary.
