Director Simon Curtis's film will reportedly go behind the scenes during the making of 1957's The Prince And The Showgirl, which starred Monroe and Laurence Olivier.
According to Mail Online, several popular stars were considered for the role, including Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams. However, Williams was apparently the only actress producers met with during casting.
Filming is scheduled to start in June 2010.
