Ortega to direct 'In The Heights'

This Is It helmer Kenny Ortega's next directing project will be an adaptation of Broadway musical In The Heights.

The story centres on three days in New York's Dominican-American neighbourhood Washington Heights and features hip-hop, salsa, merengue and soul tunes.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who composed, wrote the music and starred in the Tony award-winning show, is expected to produce and star in Ortega's movie project, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Quiara Alegria Hudes, writer of the In The Heights book, will pen the screenplay.
