The British comedy star, who recently confirmed that the untitled film will shoot in America, admitted that Iannucci and Baynham's movie success with In The Loop and Borat have made co-ordinating Partridge's return difficult.
"It's going to happen," Coogan said of the project in an interview with The AV Club. "I'm taking meetings about it next week. It's getting the three most important people - we've sort of splintered.
"It's getting us all in the same space so we can actually focus on it. That's now starting to happen. It was also something that for a while I felt ambivalent about, but I want to do it and get it done."
He continued: "We're having to do Skype and conference calls at the moment. The character, almost despite his success, as a character still makes me laugh. I still find him funny. I still find myself jotting things down, going, 'Oh this would be a funny thing for him to do'. Which is a great thing, when a character just exists in your head."
