Mariah Carey had 'Precious' "nightmare"

The pop superstar, who co-stars in the award-nominated drama, insisted that director Lee Daniels was honest with the singer about stripping off her make-up and glamorous public image for the role, Vibe reports.
Carey said: "[Lee told me], 'Look, I'm going to make you under and over, your hair and whatever, and you're just going to have to deal with it. I'm going to put you under fluorescent lighting'."
The Grammy winner added: "That overhead lighting was not my friend, and neither was the hair. Someone who normally does my make-up described it as a Mariah Carey nightmare.
"But in the end, it turned out to be a great gift Lee gave me to be able to go that far away from who I really am."
Precious is currently playing in US cinemas and is due for release in the UK on January 29.
