Penn dropped out of the project last summer to focus on his family and marriage to Robin Wright-Penn. The couple have since divorced and the actor is now ready to commit to the role of Stooge Larry, according to Bobby Farrelly.
Speaking to The Boston Herald, Farrelly said: "We got him back. He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family."
The film was put on hold in 2009 after Penn left. Bobby and brother Peter had since moved on to another project, the Owen Wilson comedy Hall Pass.
No shooting date was announced for the Stooges movie.
