Director Martin Campbell has promised James Bond fans that Casino Royale will be a "grittier" and "tougher" Bond film.
Campbell has revealed that changes will have to be made to bring Ian Fleming's novel into the 21st century. He also wishes to move away from the "huge visual effects" which have been included in Bond's recent adventures.
He told the The New York Daily News, "There are things that will have to be changed from the original novel. The Cold War elements will have to be reconfigured, for example, but Casino Royale will be a grittier, tougher and more realistic Bond movie."
