American Pie 2 writer David H. Steinberg has been hired by DreamWorks to write Puss In Boots, a spin-off from the popular Shrek movies.
The movie will concentrate on the orange cat voiced by Antonio Banderas, who was first introduced in Shrek 2.
It is currently unclear whether the movie will make it to the big-screen, or be released straight onto DVD. DreamWorks plan to release the film in 2008.
Antonio Banderas has already agreed to take part in the project.
