The Aviator
The Aviator is the early success story of the Oscars, with four awards under its belt just one hour into the ceremony.
Most notable thusfar has been Cate Blanchett's expected success as best supporting actress, although the film has also notched up several wins in the technical categories.
Gongs came for achievement in art direction, as well as for achievement in costume design and achievement in editing.
The Aviator is considered a favourite in two of the big categories - best picture and best director - but also has nominations in three other technical categories.
