'Mad Black Woman' tops US box office

Romantic comedy Diary of a Mad Black Woman has entered the US and Canada box office chart at number one this weekend.
The movie, which Tyler Perry adapted from his play of the same name, took an estimated $22.7m (£11.9m). The low-budget movie features Tyler Perry, Kimberly Elise, Steve Harris, Tamara Taylor, Cicely Tyson and Shemar Moore, each with multiple parts.
Previous number one, Samuel L. Jackson's Hitch, fell to second place with $21m (£11m), followed by Constantine at number three with total earnings of $50.8m (£26.5m) over its two weeks of release.
