A new release of Mel Gibson's The Passion of The Christ has been awarded a 15 certificate.
A new version of the controversial Biblical epic, entitled The Passion - Recut, is being released this Easter. The new version is six minutes shorter than the original and has been toned down in terms of violent scenes, which secured its predecessor an 18 certificate last year.
itv.com quotes the director as saying: "I hope to cater to those people that perhaps might not have seen the original because of it's intensity or brutality."
