Lutz, Stargate: Atlantis's Jason Momoa and an unnamed third actor are believed to be the among the finalists to take over the warrior role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the '80s.
Marcus Nispel (Friday The 13th) is directing the action epic, with production scheduled to start in Bulgaria this March.
The remake is based around Robert E. Howard's pulp creation from the 1930s. Schwarzenegger led the 1982 adaptation of Conan The Barbarian and starred in its less successful follow-up Conan The Destroyer two years later.
