Courtney Love has suggested Armando Iannucci as a possible director for a biopic about her relationship with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

The Hole singer told Clash Magazine that the Scottish comedian would be ideal to helm the movie adaptation of Charles Cross's biography Heavier Than Heaven.

Love said: " I became friends with Eric Fellner, who produced [Alex Cox's] Sid And Nancy, and Fellner is consequently producing Heavier Than Heaven, which is about Kurt and me.

"Who's directing? Well, I watched The Boat That Rocked and I know that it got slated but I really liked it, and Eric is pushing for Richard Curtis."

She added: "But you know who I'm into? The Thick Of It guy? Armando Iannucci. This is a big A-list movie. This is when someone goes and gets an Oscar for it."

Love recently confirmed that she would be playing a number of gigs under the Hole banner, despite being the sole remaining founding member.
