The actress, who starred as Mary-Jane Watson in the three superhero movies, has left the franchise along with Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi following Sony's decision to start again from scratch with (500) Days Of Summer's Marc Webb.
"It's sad to see it end," Dunst told E! Online. "I think for Sam it was time for him to move on, and so we're all going to move on with him. But we've had a good ten years."
The new Spider-Man, penned by Zodiac's James Vanderbilt, is said to be budgeted at $80 million and will debut in cinemas in 2012.
