Ronan: 'I miss Peter Jackson's direction'

Saoirse Ronan has said that she enjoyed working with director Peter Jackson on The Lovely Bones.

The actress, who is the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Academy Award, has claimed that the filmmaker "helped" her play the role of Susie Salmon and has missed him since production wrapped.

The 15-year-old told About: "He helped me out immensely. I've never really worked with a director like Peter before. I really haven't. And I actually missed working with him when we finished.

"I still miss his type of direction. He's very physically involved. He would actually sometimes act out the scenes for me, which I loved. He wouldn't - not with acting, just physically.

"And he put an awful lot of energy into his direction. And he's good at everything. He's an actor's director. Technicality-wise he's great as well."

When asked about her work relationship with co-star Stanley Tucci, Ronan replied: "Stanley and I get on really well, which was essential, I think, for us to have a good relationship, and to be able to bounce off of each other.

"The intense scenes that we had together would have been very difficult to do if we couldn't go to those awkward, uncomfortable, deep places."

The Lovely Bones is currently playing in the US and arrives in UK cinemas on January 29.
