Brosnan: Tarantino's choice of Bond
Published Sunday, Mar 13 2005, 23:59 GMT | By Daniel Saney
Quentin Tarantino has voiced his disapproval of bosses dropping Pierce Brosnan from the role of 007.
The Pulp Fiction director had been enthusiastic to make a movie adaptation of Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, Casino Royale, with the Irish actor in the lead role. However, neither Tarantino nor Brosnan are participating in the final project.
While it is clear that Brosnan will not play the role, it is still unknown who will take up the licence to kill.
Speaking at the Empire awards in London, Tarantino said: "I would have liked to do Casino Royale with Pierce Brosnan.
"But once I heard Brosnan isn't going to be doing any more Bond films, that killed it as far as I was concerned.
"Over the course of time he's really proven himself to me as the James Bond for this generation."
