Playtone Productions is to adapt William Knoedelseder's non-fiction book I'm Dying Up Here: Heartbreak and High Times in Stand-up Comedy's Golden Era, reports Pajiba.
The movie will be partially based on the life of Comedy Store founder Mitzi Shore, who opened up her club's doors to various comedians in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Many famous stars got their start at the club, including Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase and Jim Carrey.
A production start date for the project has not been announced.
