Weird Al Yankovic has signed a production deal with Cartoon Network to pen a live action feature film. Yankovic announced the news on his personal blog and added that the project is the first of several in the works.
"Cartoon Network decided that they liked me and wanted me to provide some content for them," Yankovic said. "Series, features, animation, live-action, they were open to anything."
According to Yankovic, he is currently honing the third draft of the live action feature, which centers around a teenage protagonist.
"It needs to be fine-tuned a bit more and it hasn’t been officially green-lit yet, but it’s gotten some very positive buzz at the network," Yankovic said.
If the project is picked up by Cartoon Network, shooting would potentially commence in fall 2010 with Yankovic on board to direct and possibly appear in the film.
