Lovely Bones actress Saoirse Ronan will take on the eponymous role as a 14-year-old Eastern European girl who has been raised by her father to be a ruthless killer. She later finds friendship with a French family and must leave behind her dark past.
Bana will play Hanna's father, while Ronan's Atonement director Joe Wright is stepping behind the camera.
The movie, scripted by Seth Lochhead and David Farr, has been described as a mix between the Bourne movies and La Femme Nikita.
