Earlier this week, the Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief star told Hollywood Access that he was in discussions to play Peter Parker in the film.
Sony have denied approaching Lerman for the role.
"To be honest, it's a role that any young actor is dying to play and I'm just hoping to be considered," Lerman told MTV News. "I'm just a huge fan.
"That's all I can say. Spider-Man is just an awesome comic book series. There's millions of actors out there who want to play the role. I'm just one of them."
Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson are among the other actors who have been rumoured to be replacing Tobey Maguire in the rebooted franchise.
