Beckinsale to play Princess Margaret?

Kate Beckinsale has reportedly been lined up to play Princess Margaret in a new film.

Sexy Beast writer Louis Mellis is working on the film, about the Princess's alleged affair with John Bindon, a gangster and actor she met on the Caribbean island of Mustique.

OK! claims that producer Patrick Milling Smith has now suggested that Beckinsale could play the Princess.

Terence Doyle, editor of British Film Magazine, said: "It's got all the ingredients for a fun and controversial British film. Sex, scandal and a misbehaving princess. Beckinsale would be perfect as Princess Margaret and Jason Statham would make a great Bindon."

However, Princess Margaret's friend Lord Glenconner explained that he is unhappy about the prospect of a film.

"He may well have hung around her when she was holidaying on Mustique but that is not the same thing as having an affair with her," he said.
