The Oscar-winning British actor, who is teaming with DiCaprio and Scorsese for the first time on Shutter Island, told reporters at the film's UK press conference that the pair were always open to collaboration with others, despite having worked together on three previous features.
"As another member of the cast observing this great longevity of a working relationship, [I was] never for a second excluded," Kingsley remarked. "Every debate on the set between Martin and Leonardo was shared - there's no shorthand, no whispering in corners, every single person on the set gets the benefit of this working relationship so that it's continually refreshed.
"You don't feel that it's private language... we were all part of that debate. Given the history of the relationship, that's quite generous and remarkable. It really lifted the whole set when they were together."
Shutter Island opens in the UK on March 12.
