Hughes Brothers in talks for 'Akira'

According to Variety, the studio is eying the Book of Eli directors to helm the upcoming action film, based on the graphic novel by Katsuhiro Otomo.
Iron Man screenwriters Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus penned the script with Eli scribe Gary Whitta. Andrew Lazer has signed to produce alongside Appian Way Productions' Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson.
Otomo's novel was first adapted as an animated feature, also titled Akira, in 1998. The film earned $84m (£53m) at the US box office in less than a month.
