The Oscar contender, recently seen starring in The Hurt Locker, is in negotiations for a lead role in director Peter Berg's upcoming action film based on the Milton Bradley board game, reports The New York Times.
Renner is also apparently circling another unnamed project that will have the same summer shooting schedule as Battleship.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old is to appear in Raven, billed as a fictional account of Edgar Allen Poe's final days hunting a serial killer.
