'Hurt Locker', 'Up In The Air' win WGA Awards

The Hurt Locker and Up In The Air both claimed the top prizes at the Writer's Guild of America Awards.

With both movies receiving Oscar nominations, Up In The Air screenwriters Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner were recognised for 'Best Adapted Screenplay'.

The Hurt Locker's Mark Boal took home the award for 'Original Screenplay', with the war film having also triumphed at the PGA Awards in the previous month.

In other categories, Mad Men received the gong for best 'TV Drama Series', and 30 Rock was awarded the 'TV Comedy Series' prize. The best 'New TV Series' was handed to mockumentary sitcom Modern Family.
