Earlier this month it was reported that the Londoner - who took home the 'Best Actress' prize at this Sunday's BAFTAs for her performance in An Education - was in talks to star in a remake of the movie musical.
However, when asked whether there was any truth to the rumour, she told Digital Spy: "It would be lovely, but no."
Mulligan also insisted that her BAFTA victory has not raised her expectations of further success at next month's Academy Awards, where she has picked up another 'Best Actress' nomination for An Education.
"It's such a different ball park. I'm so unbelievably surprised by [the BAFTAs] so I'm just going to have fun at the Oscars," she said.
