'Weapon' writer to direct 'Doc Savage'
Shane Black has been picked to direct a big screen outing for pulp magazine superhero Doc Savage.

According to Scifiwire, the former Lethal Weapon screenwriter was one of the highest paid screenwriters of the '80s and '90s, turning in scripts for The Long Kiss Goodnight along with the iconic Mel Gibson action film franchise.

In recent years, Black's directing career began with Kiss, Kiss Bang, Bang starring Robert Downey Jr.

The superhuman adventurer, inventor, explorer and crime fighter, also known as 'The Man of Bronze' was created to capitalize on the sucess of the earlier pulp hero the Shadow. His adventures ran in Doc Savage Magazine from 1933 to 1949.

The project will be the second movie adaptation after 1975's campy Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze.
