Depp, who portrays the character with a Scottish accent, joked at the fantasy film's UK press conference that "every movie deserves a Braveheart sequence".
"With the Scottish accent it's something I did mess around with on Finding Neverland, it was a bit more Aberdeen," he remarked.
"Tim (Burton, director) and I early on were talking about him being made up of different people, the extreme side of these people. I wanted to go extremely dark and dangerous with the Scottish accent. I hope I arrived there. I like wearing skirts too!"
