Heard joins the already cast Nicolas Cage in the Nu Image/Millennium project, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film centres on a man (Cage) seeking bloody revenge against the people responsible for his daughter's death and the kidnapping of his granddaughter.
The 23-year-old will portray a diner worker who helps Cage find his missing granddaughter.
Heard will also star opposite Johnny Depp in Hunter S. Thompson adaptation The Rum Diary.
