Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Guymon Casady are lined up to produce a picture based on the title, says the Los Angeles Times.
The studio must first buy the rights from Japanese company Taito, who drew inspiration from films like The War of the Worlds and Star Wars when creating the game in the late 1970s.
Last year, Warner bought Midway, the US publisher of Space Invaders. The studio is also developing another feature based on the game Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
