Paramount buys unmade John Hughes script
Published Wednesday, Mar 3 2010, 09:16 GMT | By Simon Reynolds

The story is said to centre on a dysfunctional Chicago family who lose their wealth due to a series of bad investments in a shaky economy. They are forced to move out of the city and begin to grow closer to one another.
Hughes, who passed away last year, reportedly left behind 300 notebooks, thick binders and computer files containing film ideas. Several of his screenplays were sold to Hollywood but remain unproduced.
Roth Films is allegedly on board to produce the film and are seeking a writer/director to rework Hughes's story.
Hughes directed '80s classics The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Planes, Trains And Automobiles before retiring from filmmaking in the mid-'90s. He will receive a special Oscar tribute at this Sunday's Academy Awards.
