Fans to pick venue for 'Alice' premiere

Movie fans will be given the opportunity to pick the location for the UK premiere of Gemma Arterton's new film The Disappearance Of Alice Creed.

Through a social networking application found on the AliceCreedMovie Facebook page, cinema-goers are being encouraged to choose the venue for the premiere ahead of the film's April 30 release. Facebook users who contribute the most towards gathering support for the winning location will be given exclusive Alice Creed content to share with their online friends.

"We wanted the audience to have an active participation in the marketing of the film early on, using the most current and popular digital technology. Rather than dictating where the most interest in the film and its launch is, we want the audience to decide, and we will bring the film to them," said Gemma Spector of CinemaNX, the distribution firm behind Alice Creed.

"To be given the chance to win a national premiere for your own local cinema is a very exciting and incredibly rare opportunity for film lovers," added Pete Buckingham, head of Distribution and Exhibition at the UK Film Council.

The Disappearance Of Alice Creed centres on a young woman who is kidnapped by two masked men and taken to a secluded apartment. Arterton plays the titular lead, with Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston in support.
