The Rome movie, which has been written by series creator Bruno Heller, takes place in Germany four years after the series ended. Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson are expected to reprise their roles as Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo.
Morning Light Productions has financed script development and will produce the movie. The firm is now looking for a director and studio home for the project.
Rome, which ran for two seasons on HBO from 2005 to 2007, chronicled the rise of the Roman empire.
