Carey Mulligan has admitted that she finds walking the red carpet overwhelming.

The actress, who picked up an Oscar nomination for her role in An Education, explained that she isn't used to her fame yet.

According to Bang Showbiz, she said: "I find it quite difficult. I'm not very good at getting my picture taken, so I get quite teary when the flashbulbs are going off. I feel a little bit uncomfortable. I'll get used to it more with my next movie coming out, but I don't really like that side of things."

However, Mulligan added that she has enjoyed the awards season and is looking forward to attending the Oscars.

"I haven't been dieting or worrying about my outfit," she explained. "It's all too much fun not to enjoy it so we have been partying a little bit through awards season. Someone does your make-up though, and however haggard you look, they fix you so you're ready to go. I'm relying heavily on my make-up artist at the moment."

The 2010 Academy Awards will be held tomorrow at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
