The Brüno comedian was believed to have been working on a new mockumentary with production partner Dan Mazer about a wannabe popstar who enters the annual European singing event. However, the pair have apparently now scrapped the project following nearly six months of development.
According to The Sun, Cohen was initially considering an appearance at Eurovision as his alter ego Brüno, but later resolved to invent an entirely new character after retiring the Austrian fashionista last year.
An insider told the publication: "Sacha and Dan have been feverishly working on the film for a long time now. They'd completed a lot of preparatory work and had a team assisting them, but they've axed the idea. They felt that it wasn't working."
