According to ESPN, Hill has replaced Demetri Martin in the role of Paul DePodesta, the statistician that helped Oakland A's manager Billy Beane make baseball history.
Brad Pitt is rumoured to star as Beane in the film, written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Bennett Miller.
Moneyball is based on Michael Lewis's book Moneyball: The Art to Winning an Unfair Game.
Shooting is expected to begin in June.
