Lenny Kravitz has said that he plans to star in director Lee Daniels's next film Selma.

Speaking to MTV, Kravitz revealed that he will portray civil rights pioneer Andrew Young in Daniels's upcoming drama.

"The next role is Andrew Young in a film called Selma, directed by Lee Daniels," he said.

The project will reunite Kravitz with the Oscar-nominated helmer. The pair first collaborated on Daniels's film Precious.

Andrew Young aided Martin Luther King Jr in planning a civil rights campaign in Selma, AL. He was also the mayor of Atlanta, a US congressman and the US ambassador to the United Nations.
