Alec Baldwin has revealed that he thinks the Academy Awards ceremony "went great".

The actor, who co-presented the event with Steve Martin, said that they were successful as hosts because they didn't try to make themselves the centre of attention throughout the three-hour ceremony.

Baldwin told Us Magazine: "I think it went great! I think it went really well. We decided it wasn't about Steve and me, it's about the nominees and the presenters. You don't need to see us!"

Critics have described the duo as "seriously funny" and "agreeably amusing" but "old-fashioned".
