Terrence Howard and Charlie Hunnam are already among the cast for the project, which is written and directed by first-timer Matthew Chapman.
The story finds a man (Hunnam) standing on a high-rise ledge and threatening to jump by midday as a police officer (Howard) attempts to talk him down, says The Hollywood Reporter.
"The Ledge examines the different and sometimes dangerous beliefs people adopt as a means of surviving emotional trauma," said Chapman of his debut feature film.
Production on the movie kicked off on Monday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
